Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.
Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.
Celtic are ideally placed to open their doors to fans again. But, although he’s excited for that moment to come, he’s adamant his troops can’t just wait around for audiences to show up before performing at their peak on two big stages.
Lennon is thrilled at his club’s plans to get some supporters into Parkhead for the game against Motherwell a week tomorrow.
Celtic hope to get the green light for the test event which would see punters finally welcomed into his home stadium to back the team for the first time since the beginning of March.
However, even if the Scottish Government delivers a thumbs-up, Lennon has a couple of massive matches in both domestic and European competition to negotiate first.
