Manchester hospitals are suspending non-urgent surgery to free up beds for coronavirus patients. The biggest NHS trust in charge of nine hospitals in Manchester, the Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT), is understood to be cancelling all elective operations from tomorrow (Wednesday).
Only treatment for patients with life-threatening conditions and cancer activity will go ahead at the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) and Wythenshawe Hospital.
Other affected hospitals under the trust include Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Withington Community Hospital, Trafford General Hospital, Altrincham Hospital and the University Dental Hospital of Manchester.
