The A&E department at Wythenshawe Hospital has temporarily closed to all child emergency admissions. Ambulances are now being routinely diverted to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital - and the public are being asked not to take children to Wythenshawe's emergency department.
In a letter being shared on social media, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust said the closure for paediatric emergencies was 'a necessary step to ensure the Wythenshawe Hospital capacity continues to meet additional demands for adult Covid-19 patients'.
