Stuart Murphy, 39, was killed when his lorry was involved in a six-vehicle pile up on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway on Tuesday afternoon.
The collision, which involved four lorries, shut the motorway for hours and saw three others injured. Mr Murphy, from Huddersfield, was sadly pronounced dead.
A 37-year old male remains in hospital with serious injuries, West Yorkshire Police said. The crash, which happened at about 2.30pm close to Junction 22 for Rishworth Moor, also involved a Ford Fiesta.
