Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner has been cleared of the rape and murder of 11-year-old girl. Claudia Ruf was kidnapped from Grevenbroich, Germany, in 1996, while walking her neighbour's dog.
Her partly burned body was found around 40 miles from the town. Police investigating the possible involvement of prime Maddie suspect Brueckner today ruled him out as a suspect.
A police spokesman told German newspaper Bild: "After comparing the information obtained, it can be said that Christian B was not in Grevenbroich at the time in the case of Claudia Ruf. "In addition, a DNA comparison is said to have been negative." DNA tests were carried out on hundreds of men in the German town last year in a desperate hope for a lead in the case.
