‘Shirley’ Review: In a Docudrama About the 1972 Presidential Campaign, Regina King Plays Shirley Chisholm in All Her Contained Fervor

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic At a glance, Shirley Chisholm’s 1972 campaign for president was the definition of quixotic. She was 47 years old; at the time, she had served only one term (starting in 1968) as the first Black woman to be elected to Congress. (Her district centered on the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn.) To say that Chisholm wasn’t a seasoned Washington, D.C., player would be putting it mildly, and she looked the part of the outsider.

Infamous drug lord Curtis Warren's hidden £200m fortune as he prepares for release
READ MORE: Estate full of violence and chaos has locals saying it's 'worst place on Earth'It is unclear if Warren, known as Cocky, will be able to access his drug empire fortune on his release, as the crime kingpin will be under close watch by authorities both in the UK and abroad, reports Liverpool Echo.In 2013, the criminal mastermind's elaborate money laundering machine was laid out by prosecutors at the Jersey's Royal Court. It covered everything from Swiss bank accounts and a Turkish property scheme, to a gold mining venture in Guyana that were suspected to be part of his network, as authorities and lawmakers tried to piece together Warren's epic profits. He was fighting the authorities in Jersey over an attempt to confiscate his profits following his conviction in 2009 for attempting to smuggle cannabis worth £1million onto the island. The scheme was rumbled in July 2007, only five weeks after his release from a Dutch prison where he had been serving time since 1996 over a £125m drugs trafficking plot. The court heard the drug baron could source cocaine from South America, heroin from Turkey and Iran, and cannabis from Morocco, and distribute the contraband across the globe to far-flung places including Moscow, Brazil, Swaziland and Australia. The court was also told that Warren, 59, boasted while in a Dutch prison of how he laundered £15m in cash each week.In 1996, Dutch financial investigators estimated Warren made a drugs profit of £12m in a three-month period. While Warren awaited trial in Jersey, the drug lord reportedly made 35,000 calls from behind bars to contacts across the world.

Sir David Attenborough, 95, unrecognisable in dishy shirtless TV debut aged just 30
David Attenborough looks totally unrecognisable in his first ever TV appearance for the BBC back in the 1950s.The star, who is known for his close relationship with the Royal Family, appeared on the series Zoo Quest back in 1954 - and was snapped topless on a boat looking rather dishy indeed. He originally stepped in for zoologist presenter Jack Lester, who fell ill while filming, so David instead headed out to meet the residents of a village in Sierra Leone.Lester sadly died of his tropical illness two years later. The programme’s concept was simple - to travel around the world to collect animals for London Zoo.It came in the 1956 series that a 30-year-old Sir David was spotted shirtless on a sailboat, holding a bottle of beer in his hand while fronting the nature programme. The star looked totally different from his typical self wearing a pair of khaki cargo shorts and little else, with his blonde hair ruffled in the sea breeze and toned chest on display. His tanned legs were also on display in the Zoo Quest episode, set in Borneo. The episodes for Zoo Quest were originally broadcast in black and white, but were actually filmed in colour, meaning the footage can today be seen in full technicolour after being discovered by the BBC in 2015.Sir David admitted he was “astonished” by the existence of the colour film, having believed the discovery “impossible” before. In other episodes, the Zoo Quest team headed out to Paraguay, Madagascar and Guyana, with footage shot by cameraman Charles Lagus. After his stint, he went on to land the role of controller at BBC2, helping to shift the channel into full colour, and began making his own nature documentaries including the Life on Earth series in 1979.Sir David was eventually knighted

Moment fight erupts on plane as flight attendant is injured trying to stop brawl
A shocking video shows a fight break out between three men onboard an Air Caraïbes flight after the plane took off from Paris. In the clip, filmed by a passenger on the Airbus A350-1000, the men are shouting at each other in the aisle of the plane before tensions boil over and the altercation turns physical.Passengers scream as the men rain blows on each other and a woman grabs hold of one of the men and tries to calm him down, but he starts hitting another man.In another shot, a man is running down the aisle towards a violent pile-up but it's not clear whether or not he is trying to help separate the fight. The arguing men, other passengers, and flight crew shout over each other so it's not easy to hear what is being said.It later emerged that a female flight attendant was injured trying to break up the fight, which was heading from the French capital city to Cayenne in South America.Three passengers, all Guyanese nationals, were arrested by police when the plane landed and face up to three years in prison for the fight on Friday (February 11) local media reports.According to French news, the third defendant who pleaded self-defense has been acquitted.Eric Michel, deputy general manager of Air Caraïbes, said: "Some customers helped our crew to contain this situation, the consequences of which could have been serious without the composure of our crew, who knew how to perfectly control the situation."We reserve the right to file a complaint.""The prosecutor said: "These behaviors are absolutely inadmissible and intolerable: they call into question both the safety of the flight, the safety of the passengers and therefore the prosecution will be particularly firm and intractable on the repression of these types of behavior."
