Mitski has announced details of new UK and Irish tour dates for this summer, ahead of an imminent, sold-out run of dates.As announced last year, the singer-songwriter will tour new album ‘Laurel Hell’ in the UK and Europe later this month, ending on April 29 with a London gig at Brixton Academy.Mitski will touch down in the UK on April 21 for gigs in Bristol, Leeds and Glasgow before visiting Dublin, Manchester and London. Stockholm-based Pophouse Entertainment has announced a deal with Swedish House Mafia which sees the company acquire a load of music rights and also form a new joint venture to manage the dance music group’s brand worldwide.Pophouse was launched in 2014 by Björn Ulvaeus of Abba fame and Conni Jonsson, founder of private equity outfit EQT, in order to set up the Abba Museum and accompanying Pop House Hotel in the Swedish capital. Since then it has expanded into other venue, event and media ventures, and is also a key backer of the Abba Voyage show that is due to launch in London in May.It also has an investments wing which says it is “building the world’s most vibrant catalogue of entertainment intellectual property rights”, which brings us back to the Swedish House Mafia deal.

Swedish House Mafia have sold their master recordings and publishing rights to Pophouse Entertainment.The Swedish trio have struck a deal with the Stockholm-based entertainment company, which was co-founded in 2014 by ABBA‘s Björn Ulvaeus, over the rights to their back catalogue for an undisclosed fee.The deal also includes a full acquisition of the masters and publishing of Axwell & Ingrosso, the duo formed by SHM’s Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso.SHM and Pophouse will now form “a joint venture… to develop and amplify the Swedish House Mafia brand worldwide”.”Swedish House Mafia is a ground-breaking trio that brought club music to stadiums around the world, and they continue to pave the way in contemporary electronic and dance music,” Pophouse said in a statement. “We are so excited to be partnering with them to tell that story for generations to come.“While our landmark agreement with them involves the acquisition of the recordings and publishing of their back catalogue, it is our first-of-its-kind joint venture with the band’s members that exemplifies the types of partnerships we are pursuing in our targeted expansion.”SHM added in a statement: “It feels great for us to partner up with a company like Pophouse that will do much more than simply acquire our creative work.

Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentSF Studios has boarded “Evil,” an original series adapted from Jan Guillou’s classic bestseller by the same name, which will be directed by “The Last Kingdom” helmer Erik Leijonborg and Daniel Di Grado (“Alena”).Penned by Fredrik T Olsson, the six-episode series is being produced by Tobias Åström at SF Studios and will launch on the Scandinavian streamer C More and Swedish broadcaster TV4, which are also co-producing. The series starts shooting this week in Vilnius, Lithuania.The novel was previously adapted into a 2003 film directed by Mikael Håfström.

Ubisoft has revealed a piece of cloud computing technology it’s developing called Ubisoft Scalar.Yesterday (March 18), Ubisoft revealed Ubisoft Scalar, a new piece of cloud computing technology that will apparently enable “the construction of gigantic game worlds at a scale far greater than anything that’s come before,” as noted in its reveal trailer. The project is being helmed by Ubisoft Stockholm, alongside an IP that it is developing using this technology.

Radiohead side-project The Smile have unveiled details of a new one-time single pressing for recently released singles ‘You’ll Never Work In Television Again’ and ‘The Smoke’.The trio comprising Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner – released their debut single ‘You Will Never Work In Television Again’ and its follow-up, ‘The Smoke’, earlier this year.The single is a limited 7″ pressing and fans can win a copy of the single by entering a lottery.Fans can pick up a free lottery ticket at selected record stores around the world between March 12-24.The single will not be available to purchase. Nick Vivarelli International CorrespondentAlmost two weeks into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Europe’s film industry continues to parse the complexities of a boycott on Russian cinema in order to express solidarity with the Ukrainian film community.While some film festivals, such as Stockholm and Glasgow, haven’t hesitated in boycotting Russian state-funded films outright, others like Cannes and Venice are taking a more nuanced approach, banning official delegations, but not necessarily Russian films and directors.The war’s more immediate effect, however, is that Ukrainian cinema is set to gain an increased visibility in the festival arena and beyond.On Monday evening, Rome’s Cinema Troisi hosted a free screening in collaboration with the Venice Film Festival of Ukrainian director Valentyn Vasynovych’s “Reflection” (pictured), set during the war in Donbass, in eastern Ukraine, in 2014. The film, which premiered in competition on the Lido last September, “asks, with brutal austerity, what happens to the soul of a man — and a nation — at war,” as critic Jessica Kiang put it in her Variety review.The Rome event, introduced by Venice Biennale president Roberto Cicutto, is being followed by other screenings of “Reflection,” organized by the fest in Italy.
