Sony is attempting the superhero film equivalent of “doing a lot with a little.” Instead of owning the film rights to a huge connected universe, like WB’s DCEU or Marvel Studios’ MCU, Sony has the “Spider-Man” film rights. And though the character is one of the most popular superheroes in comic book and film history, there’s no obvious way to spin it off into a whole connected universe.

In fighting for their freedom, DC's Legends of Tomorrow's misfit heroes now find themselves bracing for a battle against a group of gods. Tuesday's episode, titled "The One Where We're Trapped on TV," saw Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) attempt to appease her powerful sisters and protect the Legends in one fell swoop by stashing them away in various TV shows.

Nobody does it like the Legends.  As if this season's earlier unexpected crossover with Supernatural wasn't enough, tonight's episode of Legends of Tomorrow was an absolutely delightful trip through the TV universe, featuring trips to four different TV shows as well as a whole new world for the Legends themselves. And somehow, it was all pulled off by a first-time director, though he's no stranger to the show itself.  Former showrunner and current executive producer Marc Guggenheim took a seat in the director's chair for his first time ever for "The One Where We're Trapped on TV," and it was both a dream and just a little bit of a nightmare at the same time.

Writer Marc Guggenheim has been signed by Sony to pen a script for an upcoming project the studio hopes will establish its next female superhero, titled Jackpot.The 49-year-old Long Island native has extensive experience with the material, having past, Deadline reported.The Emmy-winner, who created the popular show Arrow, will pen the film script about the character, whose backstory is that of pregnant scientist Sara Ehret.
