Mastodon have revealed their replacement guitarist for ex-member Brent Hinds at a recent show – check out footage below.Late last week, founding guitarist Brent Hinds and Mastodon that they were amicably parting ways after 25 years together. The band wrote at the time: “We’re deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we’ve shared and we wish him nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors.”While Mastodon did not reveal who their replacement guitarist would be at the time, they confirmed that they will be proceeded with all announced shows – one of which took place at Tool’s Tool In The Sand festival in the Dominican Republic on March 9.At the show, they were joined by prominent YouTube guitarist Ben Eller, who has long been a fan of Mastodon, and has in past covered their songs numerous times.

Tool have announced a new destination festival set to take place in the Dominican Republic next year – find out more below.The festival, dubbed Tool In The Sand, has been labeled as an “all-inclusive” experience that is scheduled to take place across three days in March next year in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic across two resorts; the Hard Rock and Royalton resorts.Tool will perform two sets at the festival, which will also include sets from Mastodon, Primus, Coheed And Cambria, Eagles Of Death Metal, CKY, King’s X and more. Alex Grey and Allyson Grey have been named as special guests.Tickets are only available in packages that come with a luxury resort room, unlimited food and drinks and entry to the three-day festival.

Mastodon have released a feature-length documentary taking fans behind the scenes of their recent eighth album, ‘Hushed And Grim’.The 90-minute film – plainly titled The Making Of Hushed And Grim, and made available to view in its entirety for free – chronicles the album’s full creative process. It’s largely based around footage shot in the studio, as well as interviews with members of the band. It was directed and produced by Bryan Bankovich (who IMDB notes helmed the music video for Black Lips’ 2014 single ‘Nightmare Field’), who intertwines the film’s more serious footage with comedic skits.

Download Festival Japan has revealed Brazilian metallers Soulfly and hardcore punks Code Orange will complete the lineup for this year’s edition of the festival.Soulfly and Code Orange will join Dream Theater, Bullet For My Valentine, Mastodon, Steel Panther, At The Gates and The Halo Effect at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Center in Chiba on August 14. Mastodon, Anthrax, Dethklok and Municipal Waste have joined forces for a cover of British heavy metal legends Judas Priest’s ‘Screaming For Vengeance’.The cover, released via Two Minutes To Late Night on YouTube on Monday (February 28), sees Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor take on vocal duties as he puts on his best Rob Halford impression, complete with studded leather pieces and aviator sunglasses.Gene Hoglan (ex-Testamanent, Dark Angel) takes on the drums, while Anthrax’s Jonathan Donais and Dethklok’s Nili Brosh play the guitars. Mastodon have apologized on behalf of member Brent Hinds after he made comments about metal band Disturbed that included an offensive slur.Hinds was a guest on Jamey Jasta’s podcast The Jasta Show earlier this week, where he talked about Mastodon opening for Disturbed at Mayhem Festival in 2008.When asked if Hinds had any bucket list tours left, he responded: “No, I did a lot of tours I didn’t want to do though, like Disturbed and all that Mayhem stupid bullshit.
