Studios in Burbank during a planned reunion picket.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Marc Guggenheim has been a staple of DC Entertainment on television for over a decade as the co-creator of The CW’s Arrowverse, which launched in 2012 with “Arrow” (Guggenheim developed the series with Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg) and continued through “The Flash,” “Supergirl” and more. In a February 2023 blog post that’s now circulating online (via Entertainment Weekly), Guggenheim lamented over not being included in the new DC Universe that’s taking shape at Warner Bros. under DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran. Guggenheim admitted in his blog post that friends had told him Hollywood would come calling after he pulled off The CW’s ambitious “Crisis On Infinite Earths” storyline. That crossover event, which aired in December 2019 and January 2020, brought together six different superhero series for a story that ran through five hours of television. It was no easy feat, and Guggenheim said he even put up thousands of dollars of his own money to pull it off.

LA Law not moving at ABC was one of the surprises of this pilot season.

ABC’s L.A. Law sequel has gone the way of the network’s NYPD Blue sequel. The network has passed on the pilot, headlined by Blair Underwood, reprising his role as attorney Jonathan Rollins in addition to executive producing.

The CW gave the chop to yet another long-running series on Friday. This time the creatives behind DC’s Legends of Tomorrow took to social media to share their thoughts on the show, following its cancellation at The CW after seven seasons. Legends got the chop shortly after Batwoman.

Law, a revival of the iconic Steven Bochco legal drama, reprising her role as Ann Kelsey.  Eikenberry starred on all eight seasons of the original series as Kelsey, Associate/Partner in the firm. In the pilot, Eikenberry’s Kelsey is now a judge.

EXCLUSIVE: After recently wrapping production on the highly-anticipated adaptation of the manga comic Bullet Train, Sony Pictures is eyeing another popular Japanese comic series adaptation as sources tell Deadline, Julius Avery has been set to direct Gantz for the studio. Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Hiroya Oku, the script will be adapted by Marc Guggenheim with Temple Hill producing. Insiders add the project is still in early development with no production start date set.

Corbin Bernsen is set as a lead opposite Blair Underwood in L.A. Law, a new incarnation of the iconic Steven Bochco legal drama. which was officially picked up to pilot by ABC earlier this month. Underwood and Bernsen, reprising their roles as Jonathan Rollins and Arnie Becker, respectively, are believed to be the only original cast members who are series regulars in the sequel pilot. (More are expected to make guest-starring appearances on the potential series.)
