Teale described an incident when the officer was caught by another detective listening in to a phone call he was having with a Kray associate who was hiding Ronnie in his Chingford home.He wrote: "So, in their office encounter, this detective suddenly wanted to know all about the phone chat with Charlie Clark.
But he wasn't interested in stolen goods, it was Charlie's smartly dressed house guest that got him excited."That could mean he was telling Ronnie that at least one copper had found out where he was hiding.
Maybe he should change his arrangements."Knowing where he was - well, that didn't matter. He wasn't about to scare up a Yard swoop...he was on the firm payroll."Ronnie died aged 61 in 1995.
