Star Wars' iconic boom operator Ken Nightingall has died. The behind-the-scenes star died aged 92 at his UK home on Tuesday earlier this week.

The Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) confirmed the sad news. Ken was famed for being the boom operator in Hollywood and his most notable work was on Star Wars: A New Hope.

But on the Star Wars: A New Hope set, he stood out from the stars and TV crew because he was shirtless and wearing a small pair of pink shorts.

Pictures emerged on Reddit of the boom operator stripped down to his pants, socks and boots which garnered him the nickname "pink shorts boom guy".
