JD Sports is reportedly in talks to rescue Topshop, a month after Sir Philip Green's fashion empire collapsed into administration.
The business, which was previously tipped to save Debenhams, is hoping to join forces with US firm Authentic Brands Group to form a mammoth rescue deal.
Final offers for Sir Philip's former assets are due to be tabled in the coming days, with high street behemoths including Next expected to be among the bidders.
Authentic, which also owns Forever 21 and New York department store Barneys, is also lined up for a joint merger with JD Sports, according to Sky News.
