A grandad suffered 'horrific life-changing' injuries after he fell off a canal boat and the propeller blades 'mangled his insides'.
James Christie and his wife Clare were just hours into the their wedding anniversary staycation when the accident happened. The pair were celebrating 33 years as husband and wife and had borrowed the canal boat from friends for a trip up the Grand Union Canal in Northamptonshire.
As James reversed the vessel shortly after setting off, the bottom of the boat became stuck in debris and he was thrown off the edge, landing in the blades.
The 58-year-old sustained injuries to the back of his body, with his right buttock, most of his left buttock and several muscles being severely 'mangled', exposing his insides.
