Liverpool defender Andy Robertson jokingly took aim at his teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold with a brutal joke about his assist against West Ham.The Reds closed the gap between themselves and Premier League leaders Manchester City to just three points with a 1-0 win over the Hammers.

Senegalese winger Sadio Mane scored the all-important goal for Jurgen Klopp ’s side, tapping home from close range after Alexander-Arnold fired a fierce strike across the face of the six-yard box.

However, the England international’s cross was in fact a shot-got-wrong, he admitted after some probing from Robertson.Speaking after the game, Alexander-Arnold was asked about his personal record-breaking tally of 16 assists so far this season, his most ever, to which he replied: “Hopefully I’ll add more to the tally.”Then Robertson interrupted to ask: “That one was a miss-hit shot, weren’t it?”Alexander-Arnold laughed: “They all count, they all count.“Like Robbo said, I have dragged it but I try and contribute as much as I can for the team.

I think we both do. We pride ourselves on that. We want to help win games. Kind of changing the game from a full-back perspective and going and winning games for the team so I’m happy to contribute.”It was a hard-fought victory for Liverpool and both sides missed chances in the second half.
