Meghan Markle thanked co-star who 'turned down £53K bribe to say they slept together'
Meghan Markle reportedly thanked her former co-star for turning down an offer of £53,000 ($70,000) to say he slept with her.Actor Simon Rex, who starred alongside the Duchess of Sussex in an episode of Cuts in 2005, alleges he was offered the vast amount of money to say he spent the night with Meghan but turned it down.It was alleged that unnamed UK tabloids made him several offers to admit to the untrue claim. He even mentions that money was a worry at the time but still refused the offer, saying he would be on “food stamps” before he would lie about that.Mr Rex, who rose to fame starring in the Scary Movie franchise, said the alleged act never took place but did admit to going to dinner with Meghan as friends.Speaking to the Guardian, Mr Rex said: “I was broke as f***! I really needed the money."But I'll be on food stamps before I do that."Following his decision to not take the money, Mr Rex said he received a letter from Meghan thanking him for turning down the offer. It is unknown how Meghan found out about the offers or if Mr Rex told her himself.Mr Rex added that the letter is now framed and kept at his home in Joshua Tree, California. He added: "She said: 'It's nice to know there are still good people’.” Meanwhile, Prince Harry has said he will not return to the UK this month for the memorial service of his grandfather Prince Philip as he continues his legal battle with the Home Office over police protection.
