Football referee admits 'twisting rules' to make up for his mistakes in games

Football League referee has revealed the tactic he used to make up for wrong decisions during games – and it's one that frustrated every football fan.Kevin Lynch officiated across the Football League during his refereeing career in the 1980s and 90s, and was even a linesman for the UEFA Cup Final between Torino and Ajax in 1992.The official also holds the Football League record for most send-offs in a match, when a 21-man brawl between Norwich City and Crystal Palace resulted in Lynch sending off five players. And immediately you know it's not, it's a goal kick, you'd be like, 'it's a f***ing goal kick, why have I done that?'" he explained."Someone would come over and say, ‘f***ing hell Lynchy what's gone on?’ I'd say, 'wait for this'.

Corner comes in, (blows whistle), free kick, push on the goalkeeper, and that's what you do.”The retired referee accepted some might not agree with this tactic, but he suggested that this was the best way to keep players on-side in the context of a high-tempered game.He continued: "Little things like that, I know it's not right but it gets you through the game… It didn't happen too often, let me tell you but if it did, that's what I used to do.""I think that's sensible game management, I'm not breaking any rules, I'm twisting them slightly but I'm not breaking them.
