Dayot Upamecano rejected Man Utd after failure to agree on living arrangements

Manchester United failed in their pursuit to sign Dayot Upamecano before he made it big. The 21-year-old’s Bundesliga form has alerted several top European clubs to his buy-out clause with his current contract set to expire at the end of the 2020/21 season.

The central defender joined RB Leipzig from their sister club Red Bull Salzburg in 2017, having been tempted to leave Valenciennes for another Red Bull connected club in Liefering two years previously.

It was reported by his agent at the time, Thierry Martinez, in 2019 that United came very close to signing him from Valenciennes back in his teenage years, but they dropped the ball when tasked with sorting his living arrangements.
