couple were left stunned after discovering a popular packet of crisps in perfect condition, despite them dating back to 50 years ago.
Sharon Longhurst, 45, and husband Andy, 55, found a bag of pickled onion Tudor Crisps while they were litter-picking at Dunnikier Park, Kirkcaldy, Scotland. The pair said they decided to take the packet of crisp home to wipe the dirt off from the back, which is when they spotted a closing date to a competition in the year 1973.Sharon and bus driver Andy said they are considering framing the "unbelievable" find due to it being the most ancient thing they have ever come across while litter picking.Mum-of-three Sharon said the bag only cost a mere 2.5p and said the competition offered winners the chance to win a free football badge on the back.Sharon, from Burntisland Fife, said: “We went over to Dunnikier Park where we regularly litter pick and we were just going to clean up a well-known drinking den.“When we looked to the edge of the path and saw the ground where there were lots of packets sticking up."You could see the little corners of plastic so we thought we should tidy it up.“We started pulling the corners and the packets were coming out and we couldn’t believe what we were seeing."It started off with a packet from 2005, then one from 2000, then 1995, 1990 – it was like a game of Top Trumps."
