Sarah Paulson is set to play a controversial figure in an upcoming HBO Max series. According to Deadline, the 47-year-old actress will play author and cult-like figure Gwen Shamblin. The series will be a scripted adaptation of The Way Down: God, Greed, and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin, an HBO Max docuseries about Shamblin.  New role: Sarah Paulson is set to play a controversial figure in an upcoming HBO Max series (pictured 2018)Michelle Dean will serve as the series' showrunner.
