A man has been charged in connection with the death of Emma Caldwell. We told how Iain Packer, 49, was arrested in Glasgow on Thursday following the 27-year-old's death in 2005.
On Friday police confirmed that 'the 49-year-old man who arrested in the Glasgow area on Thursday, February 24 has now been charged'.
Sex worker Emma, from Erskine in Renfrewshire, was reported missing in April 2005. A month later her naked body was found in woodland near Biggar, South Lanarkshire.
Following consideration by senior lawyers in the Crown Office and tireless campaigning by her mother, Margaret Caldwell, the unsolved case was reopened in 2015.
