Thousands of cancers are being undetected as patients stay at home due to the coronavirus crisis that has placed the UK in a lockdown.
Patients are not going to see their GP's amid the Covid-19 outbreak which is causing cancers to be missed, warns a leading charity.
Since the outbreak, the number of patients being referred to for emergency appointments has dropped by 75% – this could risk thousands of operable cancers becoming inoperable, says Sarah Woolnough from Cancer Research UK.
In addition to this, an estimated 400 cancers are being missed because of the suspension of breast, cervical and bowel cancer screenings.
