A brawl between two brothers allegedly ended in murder when one of them knifed the other as their mother tried to separate them.
Prosecutors say that William Campbell was in a drunken fury when he stabbed his younger sibling, Samuel, to death at their family home.
A court heard how tensions had built up between the Sunderland pair over Campbell's opinions on Samuel's dog and his sibling's lack of a full time job, Chronicle Live reports. After the pair had been drinking separately, a row began in June 2021 which allegedly ended with Campbell knifing Samuel, aged 24, in the chest.
Campbell is undergoing a trial at Newcastle Crown Court, where he denies murder and claims that his brother impaled himself on the blade.
