A 28-year-old man caught with foul child porn has been spared a jail sentence.Cameron Dobson, from Broomfield Road, Ayr, admitted at an earlier hearing in January of being in possession of indecent images of children in December 2019.Yesterday, Dobson was placed on a community payback order when he reappeared for sentencing at Ayr Sheriff Court. The court previously heard that officers recovered a silver iPhone and a MacBook belonging to Dobson, with a total of 971 images found spanning across all categories used to record indecent images of kids, including category A — the most severe.A disgusting 15-minute long category A video was recovered along with a 33 second moving image to video.Dobson had admitted downloading a Mega application — a cloud storage service — but denied knowledge of indecent images. His solicitor Victoria Ulph had said at the earlier hearing that “748 images were entirely inaccessible and there wasn’t knowledge about”.Today, she said the number of images found within Dobson’s possession “could be described as the lower hundreds” and made a motion for Dobson to be placed on a community payback order.Ms Ulph said: “There was accessible and inaccessible images.“He is 28 but it’s clear from the report that he is immature.

This has been hanging over him since he was 25.“He would comply with a community payback order. The report confirms his very positive work ethic.“He does have significant mental health difficulties.

He continues to have treatment for ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia.”Sheriff Foran told Dobson: “This is of course a serious offence — I’m not entirely sure if you recognise the gravity of that.“This sentence is an alternative to custody.”The Ayrshire Live app is available to download now.Get
