But in a shock twist this evening, it was revealed that Jonah wasn’t behind the shooting.

EastEnders fans can expect plenty of drama next week as one Walford resident gets shot.Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Sharon Watts (Letita Dean) prepare for the grand opening of Peggy’s and despite being sacked, Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) orders the staff around.Seeing an opportunity, Kat and Sharon leave Sam alone with a long list of issues to sort.Sam later gives Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) the keys as she rushes off to get ready and Dotty tells Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) the coast is clear.Sharon and Kat bond as they work together to get everything ready but their happiness is short-lived when they arrive to see Shirley has trashed the club as payback for all the times the Mitchells have hurt her family.Shirley warns them she won’t stop with her vendetta but they are stopped in their tracks when two men enter waving a gun.As Shirley takes cover in the office, Kat and Sharon panic and try to call Sam for help but a gunshot rings out.Chaos ensues at the club as Sharon and Kat reel from the warning shot.Shirley panics when she realises the thugs want the safe where she is hiding and tries to reach Dotty.A confident Sam enters and refuses to back down to the men’s demands, telling them to pass a defiant message on to Jonah.However realising their threats are serious, Sam eventually gives in and takes them to the safe but things quickly gets out of control leaving someone shot.Elsewhere in Albert Square, Ben and Jay return home but it doesn’t take Kathy long to realise Ben is struggling. Ben reluctantly agrees to take Lexi to a Pride fair but as they get ready, Peter drops off a box of lost property and Lexi pulls out the shirt Lewis was wearing on the night of the attack.
'Lifetime of hurt and rejection' EastEnders' Adam Woodyatt on son becoming an actor
EastEnders actor Adam Woodyatt spoke out about how he reacted to his son Sam telling him he wanted to be an actor too.The soap star told Kate Thornton about his honesty toward Sam during a conversation on her podcast White Wine Question Time.Expressing his relief that his son turned out to be good at acting, Adam admitted that he would tell him the truth if he believed otherwise to avoid “a lifetime of hurt and rejection”.Adam began: “Sam’s going to end up following in my footsteps and end up acting, I think.“He’s actually quite good. It wasn’t a case of me looking at him going, ‘Oh, yeah, go into acting’, and thinking, ‘You’re never going to succeed’.“It was actually, ‘You’ve got a chance, you can manage it.’“If I didn’t think he was good enough I probably would have told him because otherwise he’d just be destined for a lifetime of hurt and rejection.”Speaking about Sam's acting education, Adam added: “He’s picking up little bits of work here and there.“He needs to go get some training, which he is currently applying for.“But he’s been picking up bits of work without the training, so… a bit like I did, I never had any training.”Adam had been portraying Ian Beale from 1985, before quitting the show in 2021.Ian was last seen in Walford in January 2021 after discovering Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) had been plotting to kill him.Speaking about his exit from EastEnders, Adam said: “It will have been a year since I was last in EastEnders by the time I go in.“I’ve enjoyed my time so much.

EastEnders star Letitia Dean, who has been playing iconic character Sharon Watts for nearly four decades on the BBC soap, scooped up the coveted Outstanding Achievement award. As she took to the stage to huge applause at London's Hackney Empire, she was greeted by her former on-screen mum Anita Dobson.Accepting her award, Letitia thanked the cast and crew of the BBC soap before sharing a sad family loss at the end of her acceptance speech.She also said that it was "overwhelming" to win and that she was "so touched" by the love from everyone at home and in the room.She said: "I lost my daddy a week ago, so this is for my daddy, I hope he's proud," as the audience cheered her.Letitia added: "And for my darling mummy and I hope you enjoy your fish and chips," before ending: "But seriously, thank you guys,"I'm not very good at this public speaking, but I do love you all and thank you so much for the way you love me."A montage of Letitia's best bits played out, with Anita telling the crowd how supportive Letitia had been to her on her first day before her co-stars Kellie Bright, Gillian Taylforth and Steve McFadden paid tribute to her.Anita told the crowd: "The recipient of this award, I have known for a very long time."I first met her when she was 16 years old!
