The family of a teenager who died after being hit by a car have paid tribute to his "heart of gold". Mason O'Grady was struck by a Volkswagen Polo as he crossed Chester Road in Erdington, Birmingham, with his family just before 6.50pm yesterday.
The car left the scene following the collision but was later located in Sutton Coldfield, police said. The 13-year-old was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died shortly afterwards, West Midlands Police added.
His family described Mason as "kind, loving and genuine" and someone who brought "joy to the life of everyone". A 28-year-old woman was last night arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.
