This Morning presenter Alison Hammond is "leaning on" close friend and co-star Holly Willoughby as she works her way through her recent break-up and a former friend's attempts to blackmail her, according to reports.
Alison, 48, left fans shocked this month when she announced, live on air, that she is single, following weeks of rumours that she was engaged to her long-term boyfriend.
Luckily, Alison has the support of close pal Holly to help her through her heartbreak with a source saying: "Holly steps into ‘agony aunt’ mode when her mates go through any sort of heartache. "She’s been helping to lift Alison’s spirits by not only being there for her to talk to and a shoulder lean on, but by instilling her with confidence and helping her focus on how many positive things she has in her life.
It’s like a form of counselling. They continued to Closer: "While Holly and Alison have never been best friends, Alison has been touched at how Holly’s stepped up since her split from Ben – texting her almost daily, calling and even inviting her over for wine, which has been hugely therapeutic for Alison." The source added that Holly has helped remind Alison how much she has to look forward to, especially with all he new and upcoming projects, including the next series of The Great British Bake Off.
