Champions League return hopes may look more uncertain due to new quarantine rules, but there are “encouraging” signs over a Premier League comeback.

That is the view of former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer, who has given his verdict on plans to see out the current season by playing all remaining fixtures.

Football is only just returning after more than two months away due to coronavirus, with the Bundesliga already playing two match days over the last couple of weekends.

Other countries are set to follow, with La Liga next in line to return, followed by a potential comeback for the Premier League.
