A man allegedly shouted 'you won't catch me anyway' before being arrested for breaching the restrictions on movement during the coronavirus lockdown.

Police in Tameside said they were patrolling Ashton town centre on Tuesday when they spotted a man 'loitering for no good reason'.

Officers gave the man advice about the current restrictions in place, a post on the GMP Tameside South Facebook page. The man then reportedly became abusive, before saying 'you won't catch me anyway'.

A 20-year-old man was detained outside Margaret House, Ashton, around ten minutes later. Under rules brought in by the government, people are only allowed to leave their homes for limited reasons.
