Many families will be wondering if they will be able to spend Christmas together as lockdown restrictions are eased.At a Downing Street press conference today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson outlined a fresh road map as the UK exits lockdown.Questioned over families being allowed to spend Christmas together in 2020, he expressed cautious optimism with one important caveat.He said it depends on the success of the nation in continuing to defeat the virus as we head into the potentially tricky winter months of October and November, which could see a second wave of coronavirus cases along with the usual flu season when the NHS is under most pressure.Mr Johnson announced a £3 billion injection of funding for the NHS to ensure it is able to cope.
