Primark’s colossal 160,100 square foot emporium on Birmingham high street has been closed for over four weeks now, along with its other 188 stores around the UK.
It’s an action which all of Britain’s biggest high street retailers had to sadly take as the coronavirus lockdown kicked in, but one which Primark in particular may be struggling with more than most.
Primark's parent company, Associated British Foods, this week stated that the company could take an extra £284m hit from stock it can no longer sell due to the lockdown, and more than 68,000 employees are receiving furlough payments from governments across Europe.
