Electricity North West have been blasted for leaving a Wigan road in a state. Locals in Ince have raised safety concerns over the damage to Manchester Road after work was carried out in the area.

Electricity North West have apologised and say they have fenced off the area and will be making a full repair during the weekend when there is less traffic. Speaking to the MEN she said: “There was a group of boys in front of me on a bike, I saw one boy move to the side. “The next boy that was behind him just came flying off his bike. “The boy got back onto his bike and cycled off but you could see he was holding his harm so that’s why I decided to take a video and report it. “When they left it, it was flat, but they’ve not done the work correctly because any traffic that drives over it has just pushed the tarmac up causing the hazard." A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “We’re sorry that this temporary repair to the road during some work on the underground electricity network in the area wasn’t up to the standards customers rightly expect. "We have barriered off the area for safety and we will be back on site to make a full repair at the weekend when there will be less disruption to traffic.” Sign up to the MEN email newsletters to get the latest on sport, news, what's on and more by following this link
