A FAMILY travelled 50 miles to see the real-life Emmerdale village but were left feeling "disappointed" and said "it looked bigger on the telly".

The ITV soap fans drove from Rotherham to Esholt village, in Leeds, Yorks, where Emmerdale was filmed from 1976 to 1996. But Chris and Zoe were underwhelmed by their trip.

Zoe, a social care worker, told Leeds Live: “It is a bit disappointing. We are a bit like, well this is a bit s***. “It’s nothing like Emmerdale.” The couple had taken their two-year-old son, Ronnie, to see the site of the hit TV show.

Emmerdale had been filmed at the town for 20 years but was moved to Harewood, Leeds, Yorks, in 1996 with a replica built there. .css-qu9fel{border-top:1px solid #dcdddd;}.css-b9nmbi{margin-bottom:16px;border-top:1px solid.
