Warning to holidaymakers in Spain risking 200 euro fines

When travelling abroad it's important to be aware of any rules and laws in place at your destination, otherwise you could face a hefty penalty.

With the summer holidays just around the corner, Brits holidaying in Spain have been warned that they could be fined up to €200 if they’re caught wearing headphones while cycling.

It’s also illegal to wear earphones while cycling in France, where you could be fined around €135. Other popular holiday destinations have rules in place too, including Italy and Portugal.

Currently it’s not illegal to wear headphones while cycling in the UK, so it’s something Brits may not be used to. However, in the UK you could be prosecuted for cycling dangerously, as this is a breach of the Road Traffic Act (1991).
