Police have issued a warning against swimming in reservoirs ahead of the warm Bank Holiday weekend. Officers in north Manchester warned people not to go into the lake at Heaton Park, despite it looking like the 'ideal place to cool down'.
They said anyone going in would be 'trespassing' due to the area being private property. Police patrols will be stepped up in the park over the weekend.
A post on the GMP Manchester North Facebook page said: "Bank holiday weekend is here, and with the weather forecast to be hot, the reservoir at Heaton Park can look like the ideal place to cool down. Patrols will be out and about in the park and will stop and obtain details of anyone in and around the area of the reservoir. "The reservoir is incredibly cold and a dangerous place to swim.
