Brexit - will affect millions of British customers as they try to go abroad in the European Union (EU).The development will come as a disappointment to travelling Brits as they hope to keep holiday costs down.

Customers of service providers EE, Three and Vodafone will all be affected. Major provider O2 are not part of the warnings.EE is reported to have 35 million customers in the UK alone, so it is a change that will impact a huge amount of Brits up and down the UK.

The UK's trade deal with the EU does see some limits on what people can be charged, so operators can have "transparent and reasonable" roaming rates. So what is the warning, why has it been issued and who does it affect?Three, Vodafone and EE will all start reintroducing fees to customers using their phones in the EU.Since January 2021, UK operators have been allowed to reintroduce roaming charges.Once the UK left the EU, it was not clear if, through negotiations, they would be able to keep using our phone in the EU with no additional charges. Not every UK mobile phone service provider has decided to do this.Roaming charges will be back from March 3 2022.For customers with contracts that started after July 7, there will be an additional charge of £2 if you go over your allowance, as well as a daily charge.

You can see a list of EE roaming charges by country, here. Vodafone took advantage of operators being allowed to reintroduce the charges since the UK left the EU in January 2021.Customers who signed up after August 11, 2021 will have to pay up to £2 per day to use their monthly allowance of data.
