Wigan and pies go hand in hand like bread and butter, gin and tonic, even Ant and Dec. The town's association with deep-filled pastry treats is so ingrained that it has hosted the World Pie Eating Championships for the past 30 years.
Many of the Wigan's bakeries claim to be the best but, as proved during British Pie Week last year, public opinion is split.
