Football fans slammed VAR after Stefan Savic got away with a clear headbutt on Raheem Sterling during the Champions League tie between Atletico Madrid and Manchester City. The match descended into farcical scenes after Felipe hacked down Phil Foden late on.

With the midfielder rolling around in agony, Savic sprinted over and attempted to haul the England international off the pitch. That sparked an almighty scrap involving players, substitutes and coaching staff from both sides as German referee Daniel Siebert struggled to maintain control of the contest.

Savic's manhandling of Foden was bad enough, but replays showed he also landed a headbutt on Sterling during the melee. At the beginning of the scrap, Savic and Sterling squared up on the fringes of the pitch.

As they exchanged words, the Montenegro international moved his head towards the City man, forcing him backwards.
