The Met Office issued a 12-hour, yellow weather warning for rain and covering parts of England and Wales staring last night and it continues into Thursday.
The downpours are expected to cause disruption for bus and train services this morning, with flooding on roads causing further problems for commuters.
Homes and businesses are also at risk of becoming water logged, the Met Office advisory states, with the bad weather stretching from Cardiff in the south to Manchester in the north.
