Britain can expect a turbulent week ahead with plenty of heavy rain and temperatures plummeting as low as 6C in the coming days.
The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for rain in western Scotland and Northern Ireland, lasting until Tuesday morning - with some chance of flooding.
Despite the biting gales, which could see wind gusts of up to 30mph in parts today, there will be sunny interludes but temperatures will remain in the teens.
BBC forecaster Louise Lear said after a mild and bright weekend "the weather story is set to change with the week ahead". "It's turning increasingly windy and there's going to be spells of heavy rain around at times." She explained how low pressure is moving in from across the Atlantic
