The UK could experience the coldest Bonfire Night of the century as fireworks displays are cancelled and lockdown in England starts.
A -3C 1,000 mile-wide 'Greenland cold bubble' is set to hit, making temperatures chillier than in Russia. Frosty -3C lows are due on Thursday morning which could reach -1C by the night, with the south expected to be the coldest.
England's first snow of the winter has fallen in Yorkshire and gritters are on duty. Below average highs of just 9-11C are forecast in England tomorrow, making it colder than 12C Kaliningrad, Russia.
A maximum temperature below 11.2C would make it the coldest November 5 for at least 20 years, since 2000, Met Office records show.
