A cold snap will hit the UK today with winds and gales up to 75mph expected. Scotland will experience strong winds, with a Met Office yellow weather warning in place.
The colder temperatures come after multiple weather warnings were put in place this week. The weather in the UK had already turned colder on Thursday, with temperatures plunging to just 1C.
Met Office forecaster Steven Keates said it is going to be particularly cold across northern parts of the UK today. Mr Keates said: "On Saturday we start off with very windy weather across northern Scotland, with potential gusts of 65mph to 75mph." The forecaster said showers may hit parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland before heading southwards.
