Brits are being warned to wrap up and check on loved ones as the UK is set to be hit by freezing temperatures in a severe cold snap.
Public Health England said yesterday that "severe" cold weather is expected across the country in the coming days. The Met Office have forecast freezing temperatures for many parts of England until 9am on Thursday.
The PHE issued a cold weather alert on Tuesday. Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, North-East and South-East England are likely to see "severe cold weather conditons", PHE said.
A yellow weather warning for freezing fog was also in place for areas including Norfolk, Essex, Suffolk, Kent and Medway, however has since been lifted.
