Brits are set to freeze today as temperatures drop as low as 1C and chilling winds sweep across the country. Snow, sleet and hail are all potentially on the cards for parts of Northern Scotland, with Wednesday's 17C highs plunging dramatically as winter draws near.
The early hours of Thursday began with a Met Office weather warning as strong winds of up to 70mph battered parts of Scotland until around 3am.
And while the powerful gusts have now eased off, a cold blast of wind is still set to hit parts of the UK for much of the day.
Scotland will see the lowest temperatures of just 1C, but most of the UK won't fare much better with forecasters telling Brits to wrap up warm.
