An Arctic blast is set to hit the UK bringing with it icy rain and strong winds. The weather front is expected to be the first wave of what will be a colder-than average December.
Temperatures will drop to 3C in parts of Scotland and northern England - in comparison to 11C at the same time on Monday night.
After recent mild winters, this year is expected to be colder than average according to forecasters at The Weather Company, with the Met Office warning of below-average temperatures in December.
From tonight, there will be blustery showers in the north, with the heaviest and most frequent across northern Scotland. Tomorrow will start on a chilly note, with temperatures in single figures and it will not get much warmer during the day.
