Fernando Alonso has been rushed to hospital after reportedly being hit by a car while cycling in Switzerland. The two-time Formula One world champion is preparing for his return to the F1 grid with Alpine next month, having been out of the sport for the last two seasons.
But his participation in pre-season testing - which takes place in Bahrain on March 12/14 - as well as the season-opening race at the same track two weeks later is now in doubt.
Reports emerged that the Spaniard had been involved in a road accident and his F1 team confirmed on Thursday evening that Alonso is 'conscious' after being taken to hospital.
