crocodile has finally had a tyre removed from his neck that tormented him for six years by a brave man with a hacksaw. The four-metre long beast has been spotted frequently over the years in his Indonesian home of Palu, Central Sulawesi with the rubber appendage around his scaly neck.It was long thought that the tyre had ended up around his neck after some poachers had attempted to catch him and then just left it there.
Tragically, as the crocodile grew the tire began to compress tighter around his neck leading to fears he would be suffocated.
The crocodile has been the subject of numerous salvage operations as rescue teams have tried and mostly failed to free him. They've used a series of inventive contraptions in the past including drones, harpoons and bait traps - but the tyre remained stuck.
For all their endeavour, it seemed the easiest way to free the croc was to befriend it and crack out a hacksaw. According to local media reports, a heroic local Palu man named Tili stepped up to free the creature when everyone else refused.
