Trafford's Covid-19 rate is spiking despite LOWER testing rates with borough still set to come out of local lockdown tomorrow

is now more than three times higher than the national average, standing at 35.8 cases per 100,000 people in the latest figures up to the week ending Friday, August 28, but hospital admissions for COVID are down.

The increase in the borough’s infection rate from 19 cases per 100,000 the week before comes despite a decrease in the number of tests carried out across the borough.On Twitter, Trafford council leader, Coun Andrew Western, confirmed fewer tests had been carried out between August 22 and August 28 compared to the previous week.Some people had queried whether Trafford’s increased rate was due to a new testing facility that opened up on Tuesday August 25 in Trafford Park, but the council leader says this is not the case.Coun Western.
