Swimming with dolphins could soon be a whole lot different - with animal rights groups hopeful they've found an innovative alternative.
Campaigners say that the popular tourist experience is damaging to the cute aquatic mammals, who are often torn from their mothers in order to entertain holidaymakers.
Now a first-of-its kind robotic dolphin has been designed - with animal lovers saying this is a much kinder way of enjoying the experience.
The innovative idea is the brainchild of Roger Holzberg and Walt Conti, of San Francisco–based Edge Innovations. They claim their electronic dolphins are hyper-realistic and perfectly imitate the experience of swimming with a real animal.
