Newcastle 'preparing £50m bid' for French winger who's netted 15 times in 31 games
Newcastle United are planning a mega-money move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, who has been on fire in the Bundesliga this season.The 22-year-old, who came through the ranks at Paris Saint Germain, has scored 15 times in 31 games so far this season and has helped propel Leverkusen into an unlikely push for Champions League qualification.Newcastle are preparing an offer of around £50 million, but the German club reportedly want the fee to be closer to the £75 million mark - which is what Chelsea paid them for Kai Havertz in 2020.But considering they allowed Leon Bailey to move to Aston Villa for just £28 million last summer, there's hope in the Newcastle camp that they can keep agree a fairly reasonable price with the Germans.The two clubs already have a positive working relationship after the Magpies agreed a deal for Leverkusen's Mitchel Bakker in January, only to change their minds and sign Matt Targett on loan instead.Toon boss Eddie Howe will be keen to add some much-needed firepower to his front-line and Diaby would give their attack an extra dimension, and likely take some of the pressure off Allan Saint-Maximin's shoulders too.The French winger has spent just under three seasons in Germany and has been improving noticeably year on year.The pacey trickster has added goals to his game and has grown into one of the Bundesliga's most well-rounded attackers.Can Newcastle United finish in the top four next season?
